hi, can anyone tell me where the best place to buy replacement trailing arm bushes for my v8s? (best meaning cheapest price for quality bushes) would rather not fit polybushes, but info on where i can buy them may end up being useful too.

cheers

I suggest you contact either Neil Perry at
http://www.mlperformanceparts.co.uk
or Adrian Venn at
http://www.exactly-tvr.demon.co.uk

Give your trailing arms a very careful check over; the outer, relatively small diameter, tube can hold water and rot. My car has an excellent chassis, corrosion protected from new, but I found a small hole in one of these tubes and found it was paper thin in parts! If so get it repaired before fitting new bushes. It is such a common problem that Adrian has jigs set up to do this work almost by return, and he can fit the bushes which are not easy to fit at home.

I fitted rubber bushes using a threaded bar with lock nuts and a washer big enough to clear the metal tube on one end and then pulled it through with a similar washer, socket and nut from the other end. It worked a treat.

Sorry Phil, I should have been clearer.
Fitting new bushes into a clean tube in the swinging arm shouldnt be too difficult (although it apparently can be). Taking the old ones out can be difficult without causing damage. I had to burn mine then carefully cut down inside the outer sleeve enough to be able to lever it out in bits. After 24 years in place it had decided it was very comfortable where it was! Cut too far and you damage the arm, any small cut could form a dangerous stess raising point.

thanks all for info.

after communications with adrian from exactly-tvr i sourced a set of polybushes for both sides from a company called Warrior gti for £98 incl p&pnew bushes after i have had a chance to check how resistant to removal the old ones are!!! This also gives me the chance to renovate if necessary, the arms before refitting.
